and in them many beauties:
for the birds a swift, for joys a swift flight across the sky,
and to the mountains their peaks,
and to the meadows their expanses,
and to the fields their breadth;
and of the delicate air
the murmuring in some wondrous waves:
and the earth's bearing of gifts
of fragrant flowers, and of grasses;
but of man's very nature
the renewal and the gladness
who could worthily tell?

All this, however,
and the other wondrous works of God,
which not even the keen-sighted mind
is able to behold,
love surpasses.
And it is no wonder,
for God is love,

Deceit of any kind has no place in love.
For Cain, a stranger to love, said to Abel:
"Let us go out into the field."
