that stood on a very simple iconostasis; some of these icons were preserved during the migrations and are today in the monastery of Bođani. In the 19th century a period of restoration began for the church of Manasija; the monk Joanikije was the first to begin repairing the monastery Church of the Holy Trinity, having first to clear it of rubbish; most probably during this restoration he also set up an iconostasis, for it is recorded that he furnished the church so as to be able to renew its liturgical life. Soon afterward, in the third decade of the 19th century, Abbot Sava Popović set up a simple iconostasis in the church, which, owing to the poor condition of the monastery caused by the leaking roof, did not long remain in the church. It is most likely that this iconostasis, which on the commission of Abbot Sava was painted by kir-Kostadin and kir-Giorgi of Grabovo in the nahiye of Trnovo, is today in the Church of Saint Nicholas in the village of Dvorište. In the church of Manasija Monastery, during 1863 and 1864, a larger wooden iconostasis was made and painted, the painting being done by Milija and Nikola Marković. It is recorded that this work cost a whole fortune - the iconostasis was paid for with a thousand ducats. Today the icons from this old iconostasis are in the narthex of the Church of the Holy Trinity. The present iconostasis of Manasija Monastery was installed at the beginning of the 21st century. The simple stone iconostasis was built under the patronage of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of the Republic of Serbia in 2006/7. This iconostasis, befitting the church of Manasija from the beginning of the 15th century, bears, besides the royal doors - with the composition of the Annunciation (Luke 1:26–38) - four icons: of the Lord Jesus Christ, of the Most Holy Theotokos, of the church's feast - Pentecost (Acts 2:1–41), and of Saint John the Baptist. This iconostasis was painted by Veronika Đukanović.
